Today I am joining Friday’s Fave Five: a moment to look back and count five blessings.
It was quite a week... no voice, coughing fits, my mother-in-law’s surgery, an inflamed insect bite, and far too much heat.
But today I’m choosing the nicer list: the blessings. π
1. Beautiful skies outside my writing room
This week the skies outside my writing room were so beautiful. Sometimes I only had to look out of the window to be reminded that there is still beauty around me. My writing room has its own little window of wonder.
The photo was taken with my phone, so the stars are a bit blurry. But hopefully it gives you an idea of how beautiful the sky was.
2. An early walk in the woods
It was very warm this week, but I still went to the woods for a little while. I went very early, before the day became too hot. The quiet, the trees, the morning light on the grasses... it all did me good.
Below is my favorite tree-lined path. If you're there early enough, and the light cooperates, you'll see a bright light at the end of the tunnel. No, not that kind of light! It's simply the rising sun. Isn't it beautiful? ☀️π³
3. Continuing my study of Acts
I continued my study of the book of Acts. I read slowly, but maybe that is not a bad thing. Slow reading can also become deep reading.
4. Writing, blogging, and a small Vinted find
I wrote a few blog posts this week, and I hope to add the links here. Writing helps me to think, to notice things. I also bought something lovely on Vinted for my writing room. Just a small thing, but it made me very happy.
- Zonnebloemen en de sandwichgeneratie (about sunflowers)
- My author blog
- My Photo Journal
5. My daughter’s wedding dress
A very special moment this week was going to the bridal shop. My daughter’s wedding dress had arrived, and we went to see what still needed to be altered. The dress was pinned and checked, and suddenly the wedding felt a little closer again.
It was also a tense day, because my mother-in-law had surgery. So joy and worry were very close together that day. Maybe that made the beautiful moment even more precious.
These were my five blessings of the week. What was something that made you thankful this week?

That view from your writing room is spectacular, Aritha! It would certainly inspire me to be creative. I'm sure your daughter will make a beautiful bride and I do hope your MIL will have a quick recovery. God bless you!
ReplyDeleteOOH that wooded hike photo is calling my name. LOVE the sunshine coming through.....
ReplyDeletethe sky pic is stunning!
How exciting for you and your daughter.......I sure hope I get to be the mother of a bride before I'm much older.
I hope your mother in law is doing ok.
the book of Acts! Our pastor did a whole sermon series on Acts last winter. It was quite interesting and very deep.
I hope you're soon feeling better and that your MIL is recovering well. Oh a wedding to look forward to, how exciting. I can remember shopping with my daughter for her wedding dress. She had almost decided on one and at the last minute went for something that was completely different to most of the gowns she had tried on. That view of the sky is lovely and I need to make more of an effort to get out and walk early before it gets too hot. Have a good weekend.
ReplyDeleteOh, Aritha, I am so sorry you've been dealing with laryngytis and a cough, etc., and I pray you are feeling better really soon. I just read your next post about "patience", and I can see where you are needing to practice patience with these concerns. Also praying for your MIL to recover well from her surgery. Oh, I know you must be getting excited about the wedding! How wonderful to be able to plan such a wonderful day with your daughter! What a blessing!!! And I love the view from your writing room, and also the beaded decoration for your window! You and I think so much alike...I have a beaded decoration hanging in my window in my "Room With A View" writing room! I love to see the sunlight sparkle through the beads. And I love walks on a path with trees and a "light at the end of the tunnel" kind of view. Everything about this post just made me realize how very similar we are in our ways of viewing things. Praying for you now to feel better soon my friend across the sea.
ReplyDeleteHere is a link to a post I wrote about the hanging beads suncatcher in my window in my "Room with a View" https://pamelasopenwindow.blogspot.com/2025/04/monday-monday.html
ReplyDeleteWhat a busy week. I hope you're feeling better. Something warm on my throat usually is the best help when it's sore--that and Ricola, a cough drop here. How nice to have a dedicated writing room! Especially with such a wonderful view. I hope your mother-in-law os recovering well from her surgery. How fun to have the wedding dress check. That path with the canopy of trees is so pretty. I agree with slow Bible reading. I get much more from it that way.
ReplyDeleteThe hanging beads are lovely. And when they catch the sun rays, they will shine brightly.
ReplyDeleteIt's exciting to see the bride's dress and to feel that the wedding is happening soon.
I'm thankful that your mother in law's surgery went well.
Have a good and not so busy week!
Hi Aritha, it is nice to look at the positives of the week. You must be so happy knowing the dress is in and the wedding is getting closer, I enjoyed the pictures. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteOh, what a lovely post!!
ReplyDeleteNo voice is HARD! I hope you are feeling better soon!!!!
I love the idea of a writing room! I love the item you treated yourself to. It is lovely!!! OH.... that sky and that walking path... slight envy here! LOL!
Thanks for popping by my blog and commenting. Blessings!!
Beautitul skies and a very inviting path. I can see why it's a favorite. How exciting to have the wedding one step closer with the arrival of the dress and final fittings! Hope you get your voice back soon. My mom always made us tea with lots of honey and lemon when we lost our voices.
ReplyDeleteLoving this post so full of positivity despite the challenges of your week.
ReplyDeleteYou have a beautiful view from your writing room.
